KSW 47: Pudzianowski vs. Kołecki

Mariusz Pudzianowski will return at KSW 47, as he’s been booked to welcome Olympic gold medalist Szymon Kołecki to the promotion.

‘Pudz’ is still going strong. The former World’s Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski, will return at KSW 47 next March. The promotion announced the news in a press release Saturday, timed to coincide with their KSW 46 card in Gliwice. Facing off against the heavyweight strongman next year will be Olympic gold medalist Szymon Kolecki, who is seven fights into his own MMA career.

Pudzianowski (12–6 (1)) has long been one of KSW’s strongest (pun not intended, we swear) attractions. A veteran of strongman competitions for years, ‘Pudz’ has amassed a respectable record, but struggled when matched up with more decorated opponents. Last time out, he was submitted by Karol Bedorf at KSW 44. Now 41 years old, Pudzianowski had been on a three-fight win streak prior to that defeat.

The heavyweight has fought nearly his entire career with KSW.

37-year old Kolecki (6-1), meanwhile, won gold in weightlifting at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. After retiring from competitive weightlifting, he’d eventually make the transition to MMA starting in 2017. All six of his victories have come via TKO, while his lone defeat went to submission.
